SMS Spam in Singapore - How to Complain?

SMS spamming is an offense in many countries such as Singapore. It is illegal to send advertising SMS to people who do not grant permission to the advertisers. However, it seems that it is very difficult to find out the exact place to complain about the spam SMS in Singapore.

If you google for "complain sms spam singapore", "complaint sms spam singapore" or other related words, you probably cannot find the correct channel to file your complaint.

Our visitor has currently received a SMS spam from a number +6592378432. Knowing that such SMS spam is illegal in Singapore, yet he does not know the proper channel to complain to.

Does anyone know how to file a complaint for SMS spam in Singapore?

I am a victim too with frequent sms spaming. I tried calling mobile service provider (i.e. Singtel) but they are unable to do much about it except advising on reporting each number to them for future filtering.
On the other hand, I called IDA; and was redirected to another number whom is/are too busy to pick up my call. Can try calling 6211 0650 for Ms Koo, a dept who handle sms spam to what I know.

Fustrated and sick of all those sms spam!

I have given up trying to unsubscribe. I got more SMSes after that. One spamming SMS asked me to unsubscribe by sending to a 5 digit number (starting with '7') and I got charged 30 cents in my monthly bill. I tried calling M1 for help and is equally useless because their 1627 line can never get through.

So I visited iDA website, there is a link (Help for Consumers) that redirect me to http://www.spamcontrol.org.sg/consumers.html.

Under FAQ, it says .. "What recourse do I have against non-compliant spammers?"

and the answer is

"If you suffered loss or damages as a result of the transmission of non-compliant spam, you could also seek legal recourse against the spammer. This takes the form of a civil action against the spammer in court.

If successful, the court could grant injunction, damages, and statutory damages. Statutory damages that could be awarded would be up to S$25 per non-compliant spam, up to a maximum of S$1million. If you wish to claim damages beyond S$1million, you could opt for a grant of actual damages instead. In addition, the court can order the spammer to pay for the costs and expenses of the legal proceedings."

Maybe someone can create a website for victims to post the tel number of spammers so the relevant authority could look the number up and stop them.

Mobile service provider will not do anything to stop it as its a business too for them. How? By replying UN itself is a SMS by you, so why you think they will bother? I recv more than 2 aday, and remember once recving at about 3AM. What if my wife suspect my "mistress" SMSing me at 3AM. Its ok if she ask, but what if she assume. I think its getting out of hand. The controller simply draws their salary and sit on the matter for what i see.
